Sophie Ioannou-Georgiou has extensive experience as an EFL teacher and teacher trainer. She has taught all levels of English from beginners to advanced and all age ranges, from pre-primary to adult.

She has been involved in a variety of projects as a researcher, her current ones being the implementation of distance and/or blended language learning with young learners, the implementation of CLIL in primary and pre-primary, and the analysis of online learner interactions.

Sophie has been on the editorial board of OUP’s ELTJ from 2003 to 2006. She has also been a regular manuscript reviewer for the journal Language Learning and Technology since 2001. Her co-authored book “Assessing Young Learners”, published by Oxford University Press, was awarded the ELTON prize for innovation and excellence by the British Council and shortlisted for the Ben Warren Prize.

Sophie has held elected posts with the IATEFL Learning Technologies SIG and TESOL CALL-IS. She is currently the Learning Technologies Coordinator and works as a teacher trainer at the Cyprus Pedagogical Institute.
